iPhone Duo trade-in and resale value in Singapore

Before launch, shops are quoting more for a sealed iPhone Duo than Apple charges: as of 22 Oct 2026, 8th Ave Mobile lists up to S$3,470 cash for a sealed 256GB set, S$371 above Apple's S$3,099. This is a pre-launch quote and can change quickly once stock reaches shops.
For a used 256GB iPhone Duo in top condition, the highest listed trade-in is S$2,870 (Litemobile). These used prices were posted before the phone went on sale, so treat them as a shop's opening offer, not a settled market price.
If you are upgrading to the Duo, Apple's own trade-in gives S$230 to S$1,615 in credit, paid by bank transfer, towards an iPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro when you trade in an iPhone 13 or newer, and up to S$530 for an Android phone[2]. Before you accept it, compare what Singapore shops pay for your old phone on our Apple trade in price pages before you go.

What reviewers say
| Publication | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Tom's Guide | Editor's Choice. “The best designed foldable phone I've ever tested”, but non-optimised apps look bad and there's no telephoto[5] |
| WIRED | 7/10. “An astonishingly good first foldable”; iOS and third-party apps need time to catch up[6] |
| The Verge | “A messy, expensive good time”, an “early adopter special” that will delight gadget fans and likely frustrate everyone else[4] |
| CNET | Editors' Choice; the reviewer has “no plans of switching back to a slab phone”[7] |
| PCMag | Editors' Choice; “easily the best folding phone you can buy today”[7] |
| Engadget | A “first-class foldable”, held back by app support, weight and price[7] |
Design and hinge
Apple chose a wide “passport” shape rather than the tall, narrow book design most foldables used before 2026. The inner and outer screens share the same 1.4:1 aspect ratio, so apps look the same on both[4][5]. Reviewers agree the build feels finished: Tom's Guide calls it the best-designed foldable it has tested, and WIRED says the hinge “glides open gracefully and stays put at various angles”[5][6]. Popular Mechanics found the hinge had “the smoothest action and tactility of any folding phone to date”[7]. On durability, Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal used a machine to fold her review unit more than 32,000 times over four nights. Afterwards the hinge felt the same and measured slightly stiffer. Apple has not published its own fold rating[8][9].
The trade-off is weight. At 254g the Duo is heavier than an iPhone 18 Pro Max, and WIRED notes Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201g[6][3]. The Verge lists “heavier and bulkier than a standard phone” among its negatives[4].
Screens and the crease
The matte nano-texture inner screen is the feature reviewers praise most. It cuts glare and hides the fold: The Verge says you “mostly can't see” the crease, though you can feel it, and it shows off-axis on white backgrounds[4]. The matte finish costs some punch. Tom's Guide and WIRED both found blacks and contrast weaker than on the iPhone 18 Pro's glossy screen[5][6][7]. WIRED expects you to spend most of your time on the 5.4-inch outer screen[6], and opinions on it split: CNET found it comfortable for messages and typing, while The Verge found it cramped once the keyboard appears[7][4].
Software and apps
This is the main weakness right now. Apps built for the Duo get multi-pane layouts and work well side by side, but apps that haven't been updated run as a phone-sized window with black bars[6][5]. WIRED notes developers must target the iOS 27.1 SDK for full support, and that Instagram, Threads, Slack and the Google app updated in the days before launch[6]. Split-screen is fixed at 50/50 and you can't float a third app except video in picture-in-picture[6]. The Verge found multitasking gestures hard to discover and inconsistent between orientations[7]. Apple says Apple Pencil (USB-C) support comes “later this year”[2].
Cameras
The Duo has two 48MP rear cameras (main and ultra wide) and tops out at 2x optical-quality zoom, while the iPhone 18 Pro adds a telephoto with up to 8x[2]. Tom's Guide, WIRED, CNET and Popular Mechanics all flag the missing telephoto[5][6][7]. WIRED found its photos “aren't drastically different” from the iPhone 18 Pro's, while The Verge calls the cameras “just OK”[6][4]. The foldable-only features are the fun part: Duo Preview shows your subject the shot on the outer screen, Smart Take waits until everyone is posed, and Kid Cue plays animations to catch a child's eye[2][6].
Battery and performance
Battery results are good but not class-leading against the iPhone 18 Pro Max. In Tom's Guide's 5G web-browsing test on the inner screen, the Duo lasted 13 hours 20 minutes, versus 17 hours 31 minutes for the iPhone 18 Pro Max[7]. PCMag measured 18 hours 15 minutes streaming YouTube on the inner screen at maximum brightness, ahead of the other book-style foldables it has tested, and Engadget recorded 28 hours 48 minutes of local video playback[7]. In daily use WIRED ended most days with around 40% left[6]. Heat is the recurring complaint: The Verge lists “gets hot”, and WIRED saw the right half warm up quickly at random moments[4][6].
Touch ID instead of Face ID
Unlike every recent flagship iPhone, the Duo unlocks with a fingerprint sensor in the side button[3]. PCMag reported occasional failed reads and awkward placement for left-handed use, and WIRED found it takes getting used to after Face ID[7][6].
Should you buy the iPhone Duo in Singapore?

Buy it if you want a tablet-sized screen in your pocket for video, reading, spreadsheets or two apps side by side, and you are happy to pay S$3,099 or more to be an early adopter. Tom's Guide singles out commuters and business travellers as the people who will get most from it[5].
Wait or choose an iPhone 18 Pro / Pro Max if you rely on zoom photography, prefer Face ID, want the longest battery life, or mostly use apps that haven't been updated for the Duo yet. WIRED suggests waiting a few months for developers to catch up, and possibly for a lighter second generation[6].
